Marietta’s 175th Birthday and the city has chosen to celebrate it in a big way this Friday, May 29th. Marietta has been through a lot in its 175 years of existence, from the fires that burned most of the city in 1850 to becoming one of the largest suburbs of Atlanta in 2000. The city has plans to celebrate its birthday all year long. And for the month of May it has decided to go all out with contests, prizes, t-shirts and an amazing Beatles cover band called The Return.

The party begins at 6 p.m. in Glover Park on the Marietta Square. The party is going to be so big that both North Park Square and East Park Square will be closed to make room for the fun. Everyone is invited to decorate their tables, blankets, and lawn chairs with festive birthday decorations. Then the individual or group with the best decorations will be selected for a prize.

Of course a birthday wouldn’t be a birthday without cake. So the city is providing free birthday cake for everyone. Make sure to head out early so you get a deliciousĀ  piece (or two).

Rounding out the evening is an awesome performance by

The Return. The show is sure to provide great entertainment for people of all ages with performances of the Beatles’ most famous songs. The band has fans all over the country including local Atlanta radio personality, Kelly McCoy from B98.5. All of Marietta is invited to attend so get there early with your blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy the show.

Residents of

Rockledge should not miss this opportunity to celebrate the city with your friends, family and neighbors. Only a short car ride to the square, this a great event to attend for people living in Marietta apartments. You already have the chance to explore the

Chattahoochee River by living in Rockledge, now celebrate the town you live in by attending Marietta’s 175th birthday.
